1958 hat der Zürcher Fotograf Karlheinz Weinberger erstmals mit Jimmy Oechslin einen Halbstarken (Rebell) fotografiert.
Damit entstand eine einmalige Sammlung von Hunderten von Fotos mit dem Fokus auf junge Schweizer Halbstarke.
Diese besondere fotografische Begegnung löste bei ihm eine lebenslange Faszination
mit Aussenseitern und Nonconformists in der braven Schweiz zu arbeiten.
Weinberger's Ouvre umfasst Zehntausende von Abzügen, Dias und Negative, die im laufe der letzten Jahrzehnts gesammelt, archiviert, nummeriert und indiziert wurden.
Viele wurden während diesem Prozess zum ersten Mal entdeckt und dabei entstand die Idee der Veröffentlichung von fünf thematischen Büchern.
Das hier vorliegende Buch Halbstarke ist das Vol 1, danach folgen die Themen Sport, Tattoos, seine Reisen in den Süden von Italien und umfangreiche Fotos die er in den 1970er und 80er Jahren auf Treffen bei den Bikern- und Rocker Banden gemacht hat. Limitierte Auflage von 1200 Exemplaren.

In 1958, Zürich photographer Karlheinz Weinberger first captured the likeness of Halbstarke (rebel) Jimmy Oechslin, an artistic moment which marks the genesis of this collection of images focused
on young Swiss teenagers.
That particular photographic encounter triggered Weinberger's life-long fascination with outsiders and
nonconformists in the otherwise staid environment of Switzerland.
His work includes tens of thousands of prints, slides and negatives that have been collected, archived, numbered and indexed over the course of the last decade.
Many neverbefore seen images were discovered during this process, and thus the idea to publish
thematic volumes with a single theme was inspired with a layout that takes its cue from the (Illustrierten) of the era, the glossy entertainment magazines with large photo spreads.
With Halbstarke as Volume Number 1, will follow with more releases that cover topics such as sports, tattoos and insignias, his travels to the South of Italy, and the extensive work he did with biker
gangs and rockers in the 1970s and 80s. Limited edition of 1200 copies.
